Abrams Psychological Services
The goal of treatment is always to end treatment. While we know that each person needs their own pace and each problem may be more or less resistant to treatment, our job is to empower you to manage your life successfully and happily. We do not cure people. We assist people in helping themselves. We light the path, you walk it. I hope you can find everything you need to know about the services that we provide on our website. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, efficient and professional services geared to empowering you to reach your goals. We will do everything we can to meet and exceed your expectations. If your problem was easy to solve, you would have solved it way before you called us. So, we are working to make ourselves obsolete from the beginning of treatment. Whether that means learning new skills, changing your perspective or forgiving past hurts, everything you need to be successful, you walked in with. We will help you help yourself. We treat the following age-groups: Children (usually 7 years old and above) Adolescents Adults We offer assessment and treatment (Individual, Group and Family modalities are available) for the following disorders and problems: Anger management/violence prevention. Treatment of trauma (PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder) History of abuse and/or neglect Psychological Physical Emotional Sexual Victims of crime including Rape and Sexual Assault Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders – ADHD We utilize the TOVA in conjunction with questionnaires typically used to assess ADHD. We understand that behaviors associated with ADHD can actually have many different origins, so we assess attention…not just diagnose ADHD based upon behavior. Parenting Issues Including: Effective disciplining Marital conflict and its impact on children Helping children/teens deal with divorce in the family Maternal Mental Health Issues Post-Partum Depression Infertility Birth Trauma Perinatal Bereavement following the Death of a Child Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We prefer to spend a little time on the phone to discuss how we may be able to help you at the outset of treatment. We know that “goodness of fit” is critical in deciding who you will trust with your most personal issues. Of note, our office does not accept insurance. We believe that we (the client and the therapist) should decide when treatment begins and ends. We also believe that when you are paying hard-earned money for services, if you don’t get what you pay for, you should stop. We are confident that when therapy is done right, there is no dollar amount that you can put on it. However, if you have out of network benefits, we have no problem providing receipts with the relevant CPT and diagnostic (when relevant) codes so that you may submit for reimbursement. We will not have any contact with the insurance companies.
