A visit to Delicious Orchards isn’t your typical Sunday afternoon trip to the grocery store, from its 60,000-square foot retail market specializing in fresh fruits and vegetables to a wide array of baked goods made on-site in the bakery. Delicious Orchards’ personal shopping experience includes curbside service, catering options, and outdoor dining at the Cider Café, where customers can enjoy their meal under one of the property’s many apple trees. The store has become known as the go-to place to pick-up or mail order gift baskets, or to purchase fresh-baked pies for the holidays. “If there’s one word that describes Delicious Orchards, it’s tradition,” says Christopher McDonald, vice president and general manager. “The same apple pie recipe that was used in the 1950s is still used today.” Delicious Orchards is a family-owned and operated business that originally started as a wholesale apple orchard in 1911. “Our pies have been the centerpiece of family holiday gatherings for over 60 years. With more than 14 pie varieties to choose from throughout the year, customers are sure to find what they’re looking for,” McDonald says. “We pride ourselves in knowing that the same customers come in each and every year to pick up their favorite pies for the holidays.” In fact, Delicious Orchards sells some 50,000 pies just for Thanksgiving alone. The market boasts a unique deli with meats and cheeses, a growing organic department, as well as prepared foods and grocery sections. In the coffee area, customers can sample whole bean coffees and loose teas from around the world. Delicious Orchards is famous for its apple cider donuts; made with their own fresh-pressed apple cider, the popular bakery treats are available in plain, powdered sugar, and cinnamon sugar. The site also host events throughout the year, such as its annual Apple Fest, a family-friendly event that boasts an antique car display, games, food samples, and live music, or its Pumpkin Fest, with live music, an antique tractor display, pumpkin decorating, and more. “We work hard to make Delicious Orchards more of a shopping experience than a weekly task,” he says.
