Museum of Food AND Drink
For the curious eater in all of us. MOFAD (Museum of Food and Drink) is a gateway to the world of food and beverages, including its history and culture, the science and artistry behind it, plus the business and production ends of it.
MOFAD Lab, the museum’s exhibit design space in Brooklyn - across from McCarren Park where Greenpoint and Williamsburg meet - is packed with multisensory experiences and thought provoking, sometimes whimsical, often interactive displays. They appeal to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Shows explore a single theme from multiple angles, so you won’t just learn about food or drink; you’ll also get to touch, taste and smell elements of the exhibits as well as watch chefs or, in some instances, watch machines at work.
CHOW: Making the Chinese American Restaurant, which opened in the Spring of 2017, features chef tastings of one of America’s best loved cuisines, a beautiful collection of vintage menus and live demos of a fortune cookie-making machine. You can even write your own fortunes and fill a takeout container with free cookies to bring home.
Exhibits are open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 6:00 PM, with tickets available online and at the door. You’ll find plenty of places nearby to eat, drink and recap your visit. Exhibits change periodically, call or check the MOFAD website for latest offerings.
MOFAD also hosts special events after hours, including film series, dinners, wine tastings, and lectures on a variety of intriguing topics. For ticket prices, event offerings and other details please check the MOFAD website: www.mofad.org
